This program aims to provide capacity-building courses focusing on onboard training issues, assisting future merchant marine officers in meeting the minimum standard of seagoing experience in accordance with the STCW Convention.

The participants will not only obtain the technicalities of qualification and certifications aligned with the requirements set by various entities, but they are also expected to have a high level of cross-cultural awareness, global leadership, and communication capabilities through the cultivation of interactions shared in unison and the realizations of their own experiences and knowledge acquired together on-board.

By the way, the project itself can serve as a platform to share best practices on how the training, including the curriculum, can be organized on specialized training vessels. The participating countries that might operate training vessels in the future can actively join in to better foster future maritime workforces in their own countries in the later stage.

It further seeks to make significant contributions in nurturing well-trained and qualified maritime manpower who will be crucial in the pivotal axis of operations in the global shipping industry.
